A Message From Cemal

I started my journey in hospitality at 12 years old, working in my family’s takeaway.
By 20, that business had shut its doors, and with it, the future I thought I was building.

I had to pivot fast. I jumped into a role as a server and cook at one of the UK’s fastest-growing QSR brands. I loved the buzz of the kitchen, the intensity of the pass, and the challenge of getting it right under pressure. I studied, I adapted, and I earned the opportunity to manage my own store.

The first few months? A complete mess. It was chaos. Complaints piled up. The first three months were a disaster.
But instead of blaming the team or the customers, i listened.


I focused on the product, refined the systems, and rebuilt trust and that store? It didn’t just survive. It thrived, and began to grow year on year. 

That mindset took me further than I expected, from store manager to working directly with company directors, helping shape the systems, culture, and leadership that grew the business. From sales and marketing to leadership development, from taking out the bins to helping negotiate  contracts, I’ve done it all. 

When the goal is purely financial you have to find ways to get money, when the goal is to make a positive difference and bring real value, somehow the money always finds you.

What I learned is this: 
The biggest problems most managers and leaders face aren’t about effort.
 They’re about alignment.   -  They’re about leadership. And they’re about not knowing what to do when the pressure hits, not knowing where to pivot to and how to do it successfully. 

 

The unfortunate reality I’ve also found is…..

People in leadership roles never get the training, support, or alignment they truly need.
But when they do? Everything changes — their confidence, their income, their impact, their career.

 

That’s why I built this.

Follow the commandments, control your

I’ve hired, fired, promoted and given raises to hundreds, if not, thousands of people in the hospitality industry. 

I started out as a server and cook, working directly on the shop floor. A few years and a handful of promotions later, I hit the goal I set for myself—making it to the top of the company I was with.

As I worked my way up through leadership, I had to hire, fire, train, and mentor a lot of people. And over time, I started to notice something: the ones who kept progressing, earning more, and eventually leading right alongside me all had a few things in common.

Whether they knew it or not, they were following what I now call the 10 Commandments of progression, or 10 steps, if you prefer. These principles helped them become stronger leaders, climb to the next level in their careers, and make a lot more money doing it.

 

Here they are: 

1. Be great at the job you’re doing

- Put yourself into the top 10% of performers, at whatever it is you do, whether that be in your whole company, your store, or your department. Becoming a great leader is how you will get there.

2. Be unwaveringly positive 

- Become a solution based thinker. 

3. Show commitment to your job role and company 

- Commitment is a requirement 

4. Prioritise the path to get there 

- It’s a competitive world, whoever priorities to get what they want, is the one who gets it. 

5. Think like an owner - speak like an owner 

- The higher you want to go, it requires a mindset like an owner and the voice of one. 

6. Add value in the right areas

- Do you want to earn more money, gain more influence and have fulfilment. That all comes from adding value. 

7. Let it be known you’re interested in progression 

- This begins at your interview.

8. Make sure progression is possible 

- Staying too long in a role you’ve outgrown will cost you opportunities.

9. Adapt and overcome 

- If you feel stuck, ask yourself what challenge is in your way, focus on overcoming that to unlock the next step in your career. Progress comes from overcoming challenges, both expected and unexpected. 

10. Repeat this process until you’re where you want to be 

- Follow the commandments, control your future.
